Fan who have bought Mattel’s Wicked dolls have found that an adult film site is mistakenly listed on the packaging.

The new theatrical adaptation of the hit Broadway musical is set for worldwide release on November 22, and it has inspired a lot of themed promotional merchandise à la Barbie.
Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as the Wizard of Oz witches Glinda and Elphaba, two Mattel dolls based on those characters are already on sale, with the toy company warning on its website that both the Singing Glinda Fashion Doll and the Singing Elphaba Fashion Doll doll are “not suitable for children under 36 months”.
However, fans have noticed that, on the back of the boxes, the packaging links to a porn site – not the film’s official domain, which can be found here.

While most fans have found the funny side of things here – joking on Reddit that the “entire production is cursed” and “someone’s ass is about to be kicked into the sun” – others were much more concerned.
“As a graphic designer with a penchant for typos, this is my worst nightmare,” wrote one, with some buyers speculating Mattel will recall them: “Well, that is going to be a collectable item as long as they destroy them.”
Another has noted that the porn site seem to be aware of the mishap, writing: “I think the website might be onto Mattel’s error,” sharing a screenshot of its video content showing two clips side by side with a pink and green background.
“Can you imagine you’re a parent that gives your kids access to your phone to visit the website on the back of the box. This has to be a Universal error?!”
It doesn’t appear to be a one-off misprint, with the Wicked dolls listed on eBay showing the same consistent link. NME has reached out to Mattel for comment.
Elsewhere, Grande recently spoke out in support of Erivo regarding the latter’s criticism of fan-edited Wicked posters and AI content.
Wicked is split into two instalments, with the first arriving in cinemas on November 22 and the second scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
