In 2014, YG released Blame It on the Streets, the official soundtrack to the short film of the same name by the Compton rapper. Now, ten years later, Blame It on the Streets is available for the first time on an exclusive translucent red 1LP. The vinyl will be released on December 6th.

The soundtrack features appearances from Big Wy, Jay 305, RJ, Nipsey Hussle, The Neighbourhood, TeeCee4800, Charley Hood, Slim 400, D-Lo, Mack 10 and DJ Quik. The soundtrack features remixes of the popular tracks “BPT” and “Bicken Back Being Bool” from YG’s debut album My Krazy Life, alongside new tracks.
At the time of the short film’s release, YG described it as “basically the life behind a couple of records off My Krazy Life. When you listen to that album it feels like you are watching a movie…So I wrote this film to give people a chance to see what my krazy life is all about.” Co-written by YG with the help of Darryl “Lucky” Rodgers, the 30-minute film showcases YG’s life in Compton before his rise to fame. It is mainly inspired by the tracks “BPT,” about YG’s initiation into the Bloods gang, and “Meet the Flockers,” which describes his experience as a house burglar.
YG’s debut album, My Krazy Life, opened to rave reviews and the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200. (The top spot at the time was held strong by Disney: “If it wasn’t for thatt fukin frozen album I woulda had the #1 album on billboard top 200 too lol. It’s Bool doe,” he tweeted at the time.)
YG’s latest release was August’s Just Re’d Up, his seventh studio album. The record features guest appearances from Babyface Ray, G Herbo, Larry June, Lil Yachty, Mozzy, Saweetie, Tee Grizzley and Ty Dolla Sign.
