Slipknot‘s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has spoken about the delay of the band’s “lost album” ‘Look Outside Your Window’.

It was recorded by frontman Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Jim Root and Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan at the same time as the group were working on 2008’s ‘All Hope Is Gone’. At one point, Taylor tried to blend the two records into one, but the “super experimental, vibey” tracks didn’t gel. To date, only one track from the sessions has been released – ‘All Hope Is Gone’ bonus track ‘Til We Die’.

The album has long been teased by its participating members, with frontman Corey Taylor teasing its release last year, once again stoking the flames. Progress on the album has since picked up, with Clown now providing an update on the long-awaited record.

Speaking to Vulture, the percussionist and overall band leader said of Slipknot’s unreleased material: “I don’t even know where to begin. I mean, there’s audio, and then there’s video too. We have tons of incomplete concepts, some just under completion. There’s a lot of Slipknot I wish the culture could have. There is so much I create throughout my career but very, very little is actually put out there.”

He then touched on ‘Look Outside Your Window’, adding: “No one believes that it even exists, or that it’s ever going to come out. I’ve always talked very highly of it and I’ve always said that you will never hear Corey Taylor sing like this. It’s just a whole different approach in my mind. Recently, I approved all the art. I’ve also worked really hard to get it mixed and mastered.”

The band have also been busy with their 25th anniversary tour this year, and have announced tours in several regions for 2025. They most recently shared the dates for their 2025 European tour, set to kick off next summer. You can find the full list of dates and ticketing information here.

Speaking to NME in December last year, Crahan said that ‘Look Outside Your Window’ would “definitely” release in 2024: “You have my word. The art’s been done. It’s been mixed. It’s been mastered. It is definitely coming out in 2024 and it’s such a great album.”

Previously speaking with NME, Taylor last year gave a further update and said it’s partly his fault that the record hasn’t been released yet.

When asked about the record, he replied: “It’s actually funny that you bring that up. I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting shit out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!’ I was like, ‘Fuck dude, why didn’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘Fuck, Taylor – you just got too much shit!’ It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that. I think it’s going to be next year – finally, man!”

In other news, Slipknot fans recently reacted to the band’s new ‘S’ logo featured on their new merch drop, with many less than happy with the design.
