Måneskin frontman Damiano David has covered Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars‘ recent collaborative single ‘Die With A Smile’. You can watch the video below.
The Italian singer-songwriter delivered a stripped-back rendition of the pair’s ballad – the original of which arrived in August – during a live session on SiriusXM Hits 1 at the SiriusXM NYC studios.
He was joined by his backing vocalists and live band for the intimate yet soaring take on the track. Tune in here:
The radio session came in support of David’s new solo project – which he launched in September with his first single, ‘Silverlines’, produced by Labrinth. He has since shared a second track, last month’s ‘Born With A Broken Heart’, and made his solo live debut at an intimate gig in New York.
Speaking to NME earlier this year, the musician shed some light on what fans could expect from his debut solo album. When asked if the full-length project would be a “diverse and personal affair”, he replied: “I think it’s safe to say yes.”
David continued: “It’s going to be very excessive, very dramatic, very theatrical, I would say. It’s definitely more personal. It’s about the drama of being alive; especially under the circumstances.”
He went on to tell NME that his current solo venture would be a “full musical project”, and said fans could expect a live tour. “I have an idea of who the drummer is going to be but nothing is signed yet and I don’t want to jinx it,” he added.
However, this doesn’t mark the end of Måneskin – whose bassist Victoria De Angelis announced her solo project and debut single ‘Get Up Bitch (Shake Ya Ass)’ featuring Anitta in 2024.
“We’re in training to get back different, better and harder,” David told NME.
Last year, the frontman opened up about the prospect of going solo, and said he could imagine it being both “a very healthy thing and a very destructive thing”.
