Local news station WGN9 reported yesterday (October 30) that a red Mini Cooper crashed into the front window of the tea shop, which is located in Highland Park, Illinois.

On Instagram, Corgan’s wife Chloe shared that whilst their son Augustus managed to get away in time, her mother Jenny was injured in the crash.

“This afternoon at Madame Zuzu’s, a car (in circumstances which remain under investigation) drove over the curb and into Madam Zuzu’s, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person – my mother, Jenny; who was spending the day and lunching with my son Augustus,” Chloe wrote. “Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured.

“Our family is grateful for the swift assistance of the Highland Park and Deerfield first responders. To this, Madame Zuzu’s will be closed until further notice and we’ll provide updates as we move forward. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

The crash occurred just days before Corgan will embark on a South American tour, and also follows the recent news of Corgan’s solo Australia tour. Backed by The Delta Riggs, Corgan will visit the continent in winter, kicking off in Adelaide on December 1.

Pre-sale tickets to his headline shows will go on sale on Wednesday (October 30), while General tickets will be available on Friday (November 1) at 9am local time. You can get your tickets here and see dates below:

Recently, the Smashing Pumpkins surprise released their album ‘Aghori Mhori Mei’ in August, marking their 13th studio record in total. It came out exclusively as a digital release, with a physical release to follow on November 22.

‘Aghori Mhori Mei’ serves as the follow-up to 2023’s ‘ATUM’, which NME praised as a “bombastic space-rock opera” in a four-star review: “As albums go, ‘ATUM’ is an ambitious body of work and does ask a lot of its audience. But there’s also plenty on here to please any diehard Pumpkins fan.”

In other news, watch Deftones’ Chino Moreno join Smashing Pumpkins in Portland for ‘Jellybelly’.
