As per SteamDBCall Of Duty: Black Ops 6 hit number one in the Steam top-seller chart, an impressive feat for a fully priced £59.99 game. It hit a peak concurrent player count of 306,460 over the weekend, beating previous entries in the series Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, which got to 263,174 and 190,707 on their respective opening weekends.

It’s worth noting that these numbers don’t account for console players, as neither PlayStation nor Microsoft regularly reveal player data, so the real number of people in the game is undoubtedly higher. With Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 also launching on Game Pass day one at no extra cost, millions of gamers have access to the title that may not have bought it for its full price.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set during the Gulf War, when Iraq invaded Kuwait, and the game has actually been banned in Kuwait, likely due to this, although no official reason has been given yet.

The campaign is a spy thriller set in the early ’90s, “It’s a whole new playground for us,” Stephanie Snowden, senior director of Call Of Duty Studios’ communications told NME. “The story is inspired by historical moments but what makes it a Black Ops game is us asking the question ‘what if?’”

While reviews on the game’s Steam page are currently mixed, fans are saying the game is the “most fun I’ve had in years.” “I honestly can’t remember the last time I had so much fun in a Call Of Duty game,” read one review.

In other news, many critics are loving Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but overall opinion is still mixed, with scores varying.
