Avenged Sevenfold formed in 1999 and have become one of the biggest metal bands around. To celebrate their 25th anniversary, the group recently launched a dedicated “digital museum” in Fortnite.

Described as a “full virtual gallery, experience and escape room”, the Museum features easter eggs and Avenged Sevenfold recordings, as well as the band’s story so far.

“We wanted to do something to mark the occasion of our vast history by not just looking backwards but also forward,” explained the band in a statement.  “We started throwing around the idea of a gallery or museum of sorts to display art and eras of the band, but it was important to us to reach more people virtually. We hope you enjoy taking a trip down memory lane with us.

“You do not need to be a gamer to enjoy this. This is more casual so that with a little problem solving, you can make your way through the experience.” Their track ‘Nightmare’ has also been added to Fortnite Festival.

Next year is the 20th anniversary of Avenged Sevenfold’s breakout album ‘City Of Evil’ as well as the 15th anniversary of ‘Nightmare’. Speaking to NME at Download Festival earlier this year the band’s guitarist Zacky Vengeance said: “I never want to be a nostalgia act. I’ve always wanted to be as proud of whatever we put out today as I was when we put out those albums, but I’m totally cool with celebrating those albums because it was such a great place and time.

“To bank our entire career off past successes, we can’t do it. For us, the most exciting thing about looking back is recalling where our heads were at when we were young and writing them.”

Of course, The Museum isn’t Avenged Sevenfold’s first foray into the world of gaming. In 2014, they published the Hail To The King: Deathbat dungeoncrawler, inspired by their own Deathbat mascot and the band are currently working on the City OF Evil social hub in Sandbox.

Recently Weezer launched the Sweat(er) City heist minigame in Fortnite to celebrate 30 years of ‘The Blue Album’.
