Cher endorses Kamala Harris: “I’m so grateful to be able to make my voice count this year”

Cher has officially endorsed Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.

In a clip posted to her TikTok account yesterday (October 18), the ‘Believe’ singer said she’d be voting for Vice President Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.

“I have followed Kamala Harris since she was my U.S. senator,” she said. “She fought for me then and she is fighting for all of us now.”

Explaining why she would be “proudly voting” for Harris and Walz, she concluded: “I know they will fight to protect our rights and I’m so grateful to be able to make my voice count this year. I hope you will too.”

Her feelings on Harris’ rival Donald Trump have made headlines in recent years, with the musician once claiming she’d rather “blow her brains out” than listen to the Republican presidential nominee speak.

Likewise, during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, she elected to eat a cow’s tongue rather than say something nice about Trump, and, while discussing the upcoming election last year, said she would consider leaving the United States if he won.

Cher was also a vocal supporter of Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020, even recording the song ‘Happiness Is Just a Thing Called Joe’ for his successful White House bid. She now joins scores of entertainment world figures like Jon Bon Jovi, Charli XCXBeyoncéMegan Thee StallionP!nkBon IverQuavo Neil Young, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder and more in endorsing Harris.

Swift endorsed the Vice President and Democratic nominee in September, writing in a statement that “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.

Harris has since responded to Swift’s powerful endorsement – which has reportedly led to a 500 per cent increase in voter registration, saying she was “an incredible artist” and that she respected “the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right”.

Elsewhere, Cher recently performed at the returning Victoria’s Secret Fashion show with  Lisa and Tyla. Having been previously announced to close out the entire fashion show, she rounded off the night by performing two iconic songs – ‘Believe’ and ‘Strong Enough’ as she was surrounded by models.
