Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and other iconic horror franchises come to ‘Fortnite’ for 2024 Halloween event

Fortnite‘s annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares, began three days ago, October 12, and it features outfits from Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Fortnitemares has new quests and rewards for players, a load of horror-themed outfits to unlock in the shop, and the return of the Horde Rush game mode. This is a mode where squads eliminate as many monsters as they can while picking up score multipliers in new locations, holding out for as long as they can so they can fight the final boss.

As reported by IGN, there’s a new chainsaw weapon called the boom Billy. It can be used to slice through your foes or you can stab it into the ground and rev it so your character charges forward at “frightening speeds”.

There are other Halloween-themed weapons, too. There’s a wooden stake shotgun, pumpkin launcher, and witch broom that you can pick up and use on your enemies to devastating and spooky effect. So drop in and get shooting.

The new Halloween outfits you can unlock are Billy the puppet from Saw, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Edward Scissorhands from Edward Scissorhands and Pumpkin King and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

There are also some Disney and Marvel scares, featuring Mephisto, She-Venom, Maleficent, Captain Hook, Agony, and Cruella de Vil.

This latests Fortnitemares event will run for the remainder of Chapter 5, Season 4, November 2, 2024.

If Fortnite isn’t for you, there are other Halloween games you can play. Indie-hit Inscryption just came to Xbox Game Pass, meaning you can play it at no extra cost if you’re on the PC, Console, or Ultimate tiers.
