Earlier this year, Crystal Dynamics released the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, which brought together the three original Lara Croft games. Now the studio has confirmed details of a new collection, featuring remastered versions of Tomb Raider 4, 5 and 6. “Play the next series of Tomb Raider adventures in this remastered collection of the Darkness Trilogy,” said the studio.

Due to launch February 14, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Tomb Raider 4 – 6 Remastered will include enhanced versions of 1999’s Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, 2000’s Chronicles and 2003’s Angel Of Darkness. All three games will feature improvements to visuals and controls alongside a new photo mode and an expanded range of trophies.

When the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection was released earlier this year, developers had to add in a content warning over “racial and ethnic prejudices”.

While the original Tomb Raider trilogy was a critical and commercial success, the Darkness Trilogy was met with mixed reviews, with Angel of Darkness in particular criticised for poor controls and technical issues. Despite selling 2.5million copies, the negative reviews led publishers to scrap another planned trilogy of games and switch development from Eidos to Crystal Dynamics.

The news comes shortly after Netflix’s new anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft launched on the streamer. Based on the 2013 reboot of the video game franchise, The Legend Of Lara Croft sees Hayley Atwell voice the iconic hero.

“When the offer first came in, they had shown me some images, references, stills to kind of get a look of the place, and also what Lara looked like,” Atwell said in a recent interview. “I really liked her strength. I didn’t feel that there was anything problematic for me at all. Her physicality and her aesthetic feel like a natural byproduct of what she does, rather than how she wants to be perceived in the world under the male gaze.”

Meanwhile Amazon recently gave fans a promising update on a brand new Tomb Raider game. “It’s a huge, huge task, but things are progressing. I mean, there’s some really great ideas here,” said Amazon Games boss Christoph Hartmann. “Obviously, we’re not going to share any with you even if we would love to, but things are going well, things are moving forward.”

In other news, Hogwarts Legacy looks set to get a new expansion, which will add between 10 and 15 hours of new content to the Harry Potter game – but fans are divided over the news.
