Introducing YP: The Versatile Chicago Rapper Blending Drill and Melody

YP, aka Yvng Pierre, is a rising rapper from Chicago’s Southside who’s making waves with his versatility and raw talent. Born Chauncey Pierre Broussard, YP grew up between the city streets and the suburbs, an experience that’s deeply influenced his music.

“My name is Chauncey Pierre Broussard, but I go by my middle name ‘Pierre’ or my artist name YP,” he explains. “I am from the Southside of Chicago, back of the yards area, and completely moved to the northwest suburbs around 13 years old and attended school there. Since graduating, I recently moved back to my old neighborhood in the city.”

YP’s journey into music began at just 9 years old, when he’d download songs from Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Drake onto his MP3 player. He’d write down their lyrics word-for-word, adding in his own lines and rhymes. One of his favorite childhood songs to remix was “Dungeons and Dragons” by Eminem and Nicki Minaj.

“What makes me different is the fact I am very versatile in my craft,” YP asserts. “I know a lot of people speak upon versatility but I truly believe I am one of the most versatile artists to come out of Chicago and have potential to be the most. Although deleted now, I have a ton of melodic, up tempo and love/pain music but I also have quite a lot of drill, hard and gritty type beats/songs as well. One day I could be working on drill and the next I’m singing my heart & soul out.”

One of YP’s standout lyrics comes from his drill track “PUSH UP”: “Your bitch wanna hop in this new V / Once she get in, she won’t stop for a a few seeds / Shouldn’t try to beef over pussy yo ass a get popped and that bitch she gon still have them loose knees.”

As YP prepares to release his debut music video, he’s focused on expanding his reach and building a loyal fanbase. “I plan on reaching new ears, new listeners and potential fans,” he says. “With this promotion I hope to achieve more traffic towards my account, engagement with my posts present and previous. I also expect organic growth, growth that will reach beyond just instagram but even YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music etc. I’m hoping to gain as much attention as possible and expand my reach across the country.”

Follow YP’s journey on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Stream his music on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music. Stay tuned for his highly-anticipated debut video dropping soon.
