Halo fans have taken to social media to complain about the updated look of Master Chief in new game footage.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Halo developers 343 Industries were rebranding as Halo Studios and announced “multiple” new games were in development.

The studio also confirmed that future Halo titles would be created using Unreal Engine 5, instead of their own Slipspace Engine. “We’re entering the next chapter of the franchise and changing the recipe for how we make Halo games,” said a statement. The studio also shared a teaser trailer to give fans a taste of what to expect in the future.

The New Dawn video featured interviews with a number of senior developers as well as a number of different game environments alongside glimpses of main protagonist, Master Chief.

However, a number of fans have taken issue with the new look hero. “Just gonna say it… they made Master Chief look softer and less intimidating,” said one tweet. “Is it just me, or does it look like Master Chief has been climbing into the donuts a bit,” wrote another fan.

“Environment is fucking beautiful but Master Chief looks like and moves like an action figure,” said another Tweet.

However, other fans have defended the new look Master Chief, with their armour always evolving over the course of the franchise. Shutting down the conversations about Halo going woke, one fan wrote: “‘They’re feminising Master Chief, you know’, I say to my wife at the breakfast table as she sits across from me, covertly filing for divorce from behind a conspicuously tall newspaper.”

The amount of Halo tourists crying about the recent news…

Especially high profile tourists with thousands of followers.

Bro you’re telling people who’ve been with this IP since 2001 how to feel about master Chief having a SLIGHTLY thicker torso?

“Oh god dammit. Part of the reason they chose Halo for that psychological study with toxicity in gaming toward women was because the full-body armour was so gender-neutral and sexually ambiguous, making it totally neutral,” reads another Tweet. It’s neither man or woman, it’s just a suit of fake armor!

Halo Studios has yet to confirm a release date for any of the new Halo games, but has said it won’t be teasing them much. “We should do more and say less.”

In other news, the spin-off from Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth almost focused on tuna fishing instead of pirates.
