Anno Debuts with Minimalist Dance Single “Disco” Featuring NAPPYNAPPA and Video by Jae Matthews

Washington, DC’s Anno, formerly known as Olivia Neutron-John, is back with a self-titled debut album, led by the single Disco featuring NAPPYNAPPA. The track is a sleek, minimal dance number, laced with delayed vocals and synth splashes that glide effortlessly over a bouncing beat. Anno, still fascinated by simple rhythms, channels radical hope through the music. Annoʼs work is a lifelong practice of exploring sound, emotion, and movement, and with their self-titled debut, a fresh chapter begins.

“I left with a self-titled album, and it made sense to return with one,” they explain. Written and recorded in their home studio, the album features rhythm boxes, synths, and bass guitar, showcasing Anno’s minimalist yet magnetic style.

“When writing this record, I tapped into that initial energy that put my journey as a musician into motion when I started touring at 17 years old – the first sparks that sent me into the unknown, and not so much trusting, but knowing that this is my path,” says the artist. “This record is an homage to the radical hope that got me to where I am now.”

The video, directed by Jae Matthews (Boy Harsher), plunges into a debauched underworld of bubbles, rhinestones, and mirrored ceilings. It’s a wild, half-lit descent into a strip club where the booze flows too freely, and the dancers—Eclipse, Suki, Lucky, Sunshine, and Scar—move like blurry phantoms, their antics teetering between reality and delirium. It’s the kind of night where every glittering surface reflects excess, and you’re never quite sure if what you’re seeing is real or just a trick of the mind, fueled by the haze of too much indulgence.

Be forewarned: the clip is age-restricted and NSFW.
