In August, the band revealed that their UK tour, slated to take place this year, would be postponed to 2025 “due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control”. In a statement at the time, they wrote: “We’re working hard on securing new dates and will let you know as soon as we can. We understand this is frustrating news and hope that you’re able to make it to a show in the new year.”

Now, they’ve announced that they’ve made the “incredibly difficult decision” to cancel the tour entirely. All ticket holders will be fully refunded.

“On a human level, we kindly ask that you respect all band members during this time. This decision has not been easy for us and was not made lightly,” they wrote on Instagram yesterday (September 27).

They went on to say: “We all adore this band and project, and we have appreciated your support immensely over the years. More information will be coming soon.”

The band released their new album ‘Beach Day’, the follow-up to their their acclaimed 2020 debut ‘I Slept On The Floor’, earlier this year.

At the time of ‘Beach Day’s release, the band spoke to NME about the financial crisis facing many artists in the UK, and how the struggle to exist to create shaped the record.

“COVID has changed my life,” singer Catrin Vincent told NME. “I currently haven’t had anywhere to live for a year, with the UK housing crisis and trying to be in London. I even lived in a van for a while.”

She continued: “It’s hard to sustain yourself as an artist.”

Vincent went on to highlight the issues British artists in particular face. “There are a lot of factors hitting us: like Brexit, the cost of living crisis. Most artists, maybe not the ones you see doing really well, but we rely on cheap ways of living – from small places in London, sub-letting rooms, too many people in a house, those kinds of situations.

“Now that’s all gone, life costs a lot more, and people are having to work more jobs. It’s really hard to sustain yourself as an artist. You rely on cheap ways of living because you don’t get paid properly. Streaming doesn’t pay, TikTok has had a major impact on the music industry, there’s too much.”
