New Jersey rapper Justin Calderon dropped “Promise” as a testament to his trials and tribulations. Having bounced around from Newark to Jersey City to across the Hudson to Brooklyn, he’s constantly on the move and working. But in those little moments of free time, he practices different instruments and film production techniques.
As for “Promised,” Justin’s self-produced and engineered track (he produces and engineers all of his own work) is a perfect example of an artist growing into their own sound as the song progresses.
“As I’ve grown into my sound and took time to understand myself, I’ve chosen to move cautiously and purposefully,” he said. “It’s a reminder to stay aware of the world I’m in and never take life for granted.”
What’s to come for Justin Calderon? He wouldn’t divulge much, but he did say that he wants to keep pushing his creative boundaries further and create a strong foundation. The best part is, he’s already well on his way to doing both with aplomb.
You can stream “Promise” on Apple Music and Spotify.
