Kid Cudi recently revealed that a collaboration with J. Cole could have been part of his 2013 album Indicud, but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize because Cole “couldn’t write” to the beat Cudi produced. In a Twitter exchange on September 18, Cudi expressed his disappointment, stating, “It was a bummer, and I always wanted to do something, so I reached out for INSANO and got no response. So there’s that” .
Despite the missed opportunities, Cudi emphasized that there is no bad blood between them. He noted that he believes Cole simply didn’t connect with the material he sent. Cudi mentioned that he remains a fan of Cole, saying, “Cole dope I fux w him” and expressed hope that they might collaborate in the future.
Cudi’s album INSANO, released in January 2024, features contributions from artists like Lil Yachty and Travis Scott. He also released INSANO (NITRO MEGA) shortly after, which he described as “basically another album” rather than just a deluxe edition.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Cudi was originally set to include Dreamville’s EARTHGANG on his INSANO WORLD TOUR, which was unfortunately canceled after he sustained a broken foot during a performance at Coachella in April. In a recovery update, he shared his joy at being able to walk again after months of rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, J. Cole has been actively collaborating with other artists and recently featured on tracks with A$AP Rocky and Metro Boomin. The anticipation for a potential collaboration between him and Kid Cudi continues among fans, who hope to see them work together someday.
