Numerous pictures which allegedly show Switch 2 computer-aided design (CAD) images and hardware photos have recently surfaced online. The object in the images looks very similar to the Switch, only it has a larger eight inch screen, USB-C port on both the top and bottom, and magnetic Joy-Cons rather than ones that slot into place.
VGC reports that one of its sources ” who has not seen the final Switch 2 console but has been briefed on Nintendo’s plans” claims the “images match what the company has told partners to expect from its design.”

Allegedly, the specifications of the upcoming console will be 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, up from 4GB and 32GB respectively. It will also allegedly support HDMI 2.1. This information lines up with potential Switch 2 specifications found in shipping data back in May.
In February this year, it was reported that the highly anticipated console had been delayed from a 2024 release to a 2025 one. This was because Pokémon Legends Z-A was stated to “launch on Nintendo Switch systems in 2025!” Another report in August corroborates this information, with numerous developers stating it would be released next April at the earliest.
Nintendo has said that it will make an announcement about the “successor to the Nintendo Switch” this fiscal year, so before the end of March 2025, but it has so far been tight-lipped, leaving us with speculation, insider accounts, and rumours.
It has been seven and a half years since the Nintendo Switch launched, and the consoe has sold over 143 million copies.
In other news, Nintendo is suing Palworld for allegedly infringing “multiple patent rights” and the lawsuit “seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages.”
