Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 is due for release in November but fans have already been able to test out the first-person shooter via a beta. First impressions of the game are mixed.
A lengthy review of the multiplayer by IGN praised Black Ops 6’s “rock solid” gun-play and sharp graphics, but wanted more maps and some adjustments to weapon balance for launch while The Guardian called the new omnimovement system a “literal gamechanger”.
CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 6 BETA REVIEW @Treyarch
The new Omni-Movement system is one of the best additions to the franchise in a long time due to the Max Payne like clips that can be made from it. It makes you feel like a badass. Modes are pretty standard though. pic.twitter.com/PD7SQ5acmH

Omnimovement allows players to sprint and dive in any direction, as well as giving them the ability to slide around corners and turn mid-air. Speaking to VGC, Black Op 6’s associate design director Matt Scronce explained that the new mechanic was driven by one word. “Fluidity. It never really came down to ‘let’s make something faster or slower’, it was like: ‘What do we want to do for this game? And then how do we get there,’ he explained.
However, Call Of Duty fan aren’t so sure. “I enjoyed the way the game felt, but man, I just can’t keep up in multiplayer anymore,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “I consider myself to be adequate when it comes to online shooters, and have played COD since the second game, but it’s just too hyperactive for me now. Spawn, run for 3 seconds, die, repeat. It’s just not fun when you can’t even see the guy who killed you.”
“The game is way too fast nowadays. I have to be on my A game every game if I don’t want to finish bottom,” said another player. Other called omnimovement’s dive system “style over strategy” but a number of fans enjoyed the fast-paced gameplay.
So my feedback on the BO6 Beta is pretty much the same as everybody elses just fix the packet burst and the spawns and sbmm still sucks. Other than that I absolutely love the game the omnimovement is fantastic and I think we may be in for a good year pic.twitter.com/Wpy25Hg1H2

“I really like the new movement. I feel so much faster and more nimble, and diving around corners like you’re in a John Woo movie is an awesome addition to the formula. I wasn’t sure I was going to buy it, but I’m glad I did,” wrote one player. “It makes the game feel universally better while not changing the pacing,” said another.
However most fans seem to agree that the maps were too small. “You don’t need to make us fight over a postage stamp,” explained one fan, with others blaming omnimovement for making things feel more intense than usual.
“Thankfully this is on Xbox Game Pass so I don’t need to spend $109 to see how the full game goes,” added another fan, with Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 set to be a Day One release on Microsoft’s subscription-based service.
In other news, Tony Hawk has given fans an update on the future of the Pro Skater franchise ahead of its 25th anniversary.
