James Earl Jones’ appearance on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ goes viral after death announcement

James Earl Jones’ appearance on The Big Bang Theory has gone viral following news of his death yesterday (September 9).

Best known for his role as the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise, the late actor famously appeared as himself in the sitcom back in 2014.

In the clip, which you can view below, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) tracks down Jones to try and persuade him to be the celebrity guest at his own comic book convention after failing to get passes for Comic-Con.

“Let me guess,” says Jones as Sheldon hovers over him. “You like Star Wars? You know I’ve been in other movies? But you don’t care about those do you?”

Of all of his performances, this one is my favorite

But unlike most of Sheldon’s idols, Jones is surprisingly not turned off by his sense of hero-worship and says: “I like Star Wars too.”

He then takes Sheldon out for a night on the town which culminates in the pair ringing Carrie Fisher‘s doorbell and running away.

He was so good in this episode

The clip has so far garnered over 3.5million views, with many commenting on Jones’ performance.

“His appearance was both hilarious and special, making the episode unforgettable.” one wrote.

Another added: “Best cameo appearance by the legend. That deep voice.”

Jones died yesterday morning at his home in Dutchess County, New York at the age of 93. He was one of the few actors to achieve EGOT status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.

His Darth Vader role followed him for the rest of his career throughout several Star Wars projects, most recently in 2019’s The Rise Of Skywalker.

In 1994, he landed his second largest voice acting role as Mufasa in Disney‘s The Lion King.

In the wake of his passing, many actors and industry members paid homage to the late actor including Mark Hamill and Star Wars creator and director George Lucas.
