Fast And Furious star Tyrese Gibson has been arrested after being held in contempt of court during a child support hearing.
The actor, who appeared at Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta for the latest hearing in his ongoing battle with ex-wife Samantha Lee, with whom he shares a daughter, Soraya, was ordered to pay $10,690 (£8,159) a month in child support in April 2023.
Yesterday (September 9) judge Kevin Farmer held him in contempt over his nonpayments and ordered Gibson to pay over $73,000 (£55,804) to his former partner to avoid time in prison, according to court records (via The Hollywood Reporter).
TMZ has since reported that the actor was later released from custody after his attorney Tanya Mitchell Graham filed an appeal on the ruling allowing him to delay having to pay $73,525 (£56,210) in child support. This includes $7,500 (£5,7333) in legal fees paid by Lee.

The actor has reportedly paid $2,200 (£1,679) in child support since 2022, which is 25 per cent under the amount he was ordered to pay in another hearing two years ago.
Gibson and Lee got married in 2017. She filed for divorce in 2020, and the couple later released a joint statement in which they called the split “a painful and significant development in our lives”.
In addition to his daughter with Lee, Gibson has a teenage daughter, Shayla, with his ex-wife Norma Mitchell.
Meanwhile, last year the actor sued US hardware store The Home Depot for over $1m (£790,000) after allegedly being racially profiled.
The actor, who has appeared in seven of the Fast And Furious movies, claimed that he and two associates were subjected to “outrageous discriminatory mistreatment” during an incident in February 2023.
In response a Home Depot spokesperson said at the time: “Diversity and respect for all people are core to who we are, and we do not tolerate discrimination in any form. We value Mr. Gibson as a customer, and in the months since this happened, we’ve reached out to him and his attorneys several times to try to resolve his concerns. We will continue to do so.”
