The XM4 is the base, starting assault rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. While out of the box it is solid, with the right attachments and the best Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 XM4 loadout it can become a really precise, long-range assault rifle capable of fighting at close, medium, and long range.

In this guide, we will cover the attachment setup as well as the wider class you want to run to really make the most of the weapon and hold down areas of the map.
Best ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ XM4 loadout
The best XM4 loadout in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta is:
Optic: Volzhskiy Reflex
Muzzle: Muzzle Break
Barrel: Long Barrel
Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
Fire Mods: 5.56 Nato FMJ
Credit: Activision
The core of this attachment setup is to really boost your damage, range, and accuracy while providing a small handling boost. To kick things off, you want a nice, clean close-to-medium range optic, and the Volzhskiy Reflex is the best one out there.
Most of the other optics in the game have rather large rims or provide low zoom. This is a great balance between the two, remaining nice and clean and letting you zoom in slightly farther than a lot of the mini optics let you.
Paired with that, we suggest the Quickdraw Grip in the Rear Grip slot to improve your aim down sight speed. You can choose the Assault Grip, but generally you are going to hold down an area with this build rather than running and gunning into the heat of a fight.
For the barrel option, choose the Long Barrel, providing a significant boost to your damage range, allowing you to pick people off from further away and avoid damage falloff. Pair that with the Muzzle Break in the Muzzle slot. This will drastically improve your first shot recoil, allowing you to pick people off cleanly with minimal kick due to the damage boost granted from the Long Barrel.
Finally, we suggest actually running the 5.56 Nato FMJ in the Fire Mods slot. While this does boost your scorestreak damage, we actually suggest this because of the increased penetration damage. Black Ops 6 has a lot of walls that you can wallbang through, and the increased penetration allows you to track people through walls and finish off a kill if they try to escape.
This all creates an excellent, blended close/medium/long range assault rifle loadout that is able to excel in matches while making use of omnimovement where advantageous.
‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ best XM4 class setup
The best class setup for the XM4 in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta is:
Pistol: GS45
Melee: Knife
Tactical: Stim Shot
Lethal: Semtex
Field Upgrade: Assault Pack
Perk 1: Ghost
Perk 2: Tracker
Perk 3: Vigilance
Wildcard: Perk Greed: Flak Jacket
Credit: Activision
Alongside your knife, choose the GS45 as your pistol due to its slightly better damage and range, which fits this build. In your equipment slot, you want to roll with great choices that can compliment your gameplay. The Semtex is the strongest Lethal right now, so we suggest choosing that alongside the Stim Shot.
The Stim Shot is quickly becoming a vital piece of equipment in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 due to the intense pace of the game. It allows you to heal when you are in a pinch, and chances are someone will find you where you are recovering, so it can save your life. Finally, the assault pack is our Field Upgrade choice. It is the assault pack to refil your stim shots, equipment, and ammo while you are holding down an objective or location.
Next up, on the perk front, we will be using three blue perks to get the Recon Combat Speciality. This allows you to see enemies through walls for a short time when you respawn, allowing you to plan out your next move. You also don’t leave any skulls on enemy bodies, telling the other team where you are or where you killed someone. Another nice bonus with it is the fact that your HUD will flash slightly if you are being aimed at by an enemy outside of your view.
In the Perk 1 slot, choose Ghost, a vital perk and arguably one of the best in the game for almost any build thanks to its ability to keep you off the radar. In the Perk 2 Slot, use Tracker. This will auto-ping enemies when aiming at them. You can also see enemy footsteps with this perk, allowing you to track anyone lurking in your area or while you are behind enemy lines.
Finally, choose Vigilance in the Perk 3 slot, This isn’t the best perk in the third slot, but because we want that Recon Combat Specialty, we have to choose it for now in the beta. It will let you know when you are on an enemy’s radar and remove the effects of counter UAVs and Scramblers for you.
To cap off the build, we suggest using Perk Greed as your Wildcard and choose Flak Jacket. The perk has always been strong but with how potent explosions are in matches, it is incredibly hard to hold positions without it.
With this build, you should be more than ready to take on any situation, roam in an enemy’s spawn, or hold down a location and objective.
