Indiana Jones And The Great Circle has finally been given a release date, and Xbox has also confirmed the title will be getting a PlayStation release.

First teased back in 2021, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle has been developed as a collaboration between MachineGames, Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games. Earlier this year, the title was officially announced alongside a description of the game.
“Uncover one of history’s greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, a first-person, single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders Of The Lost Ark and The Last Crusade,” it read. “The year is 1937, sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secret to an ancient power connected to the Great Circle, and only one person can stop them – Indiana Jones.”
With no news on a release date though, rumours had begun circulating in recent weeks that the game had been pushed back to 2025.
However, last night as part of Xbox’s presentation at Gamescom 2024, the studio confirmed that Indiana Jones And The Great Circle would launch December 9 for Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as being a Day One Xbox Game Pass release. The studio has also shared a new trailer.
Microsoft also confirmed that Indiana Jones And The Great Circle would be getting a PlayStation release at some point in 2025 despite previously being advertised as an Xbox console-exclusive.
Earlier this year, Microsoft released a handful of previously exclusive games on rival consoles as part of their “vision for the future”, but it had looked like the company was rethinking its strategy after shutting down Tango Gameworks, the studio behind Hi-Fi Rush.
Speaking about that “experiment”, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said: “I’m going to learn about our partnership with other platforms. I’m going to learn about what happens with our players. I think it will benefit the games that we’re putting there [but] if the net result is that other things are punitive to the Xbox platform and try to limit our growth, then we’ll have to think more carefully about how we support those other platforms.”
In other news, a study led by Japanese researchers has proven that playing video games is good for you as long as you stick to a three-hour limit.
