With K-pop chock full of undoubtedly incredible talent and what can seem like an endless comeback release calendar for us all to keep up with. There are certain diamonds that should be in the spotlight, and here are some of the most recent groups with comebacks and debuts that everyone should keep an eye on.
YDS (여동생)
YeoDongSaeng (여동생), better known as YDS, have just released their new debut single “Cicadas in Green Summer” on 1st August at 6pm KST, marking the girls debut. The duo consisting of Sohyeon and Hyemin have been uploading covers to their YouTube channel. Since 2021, they’ve released original songs ranging from 2021’s “Confession” to the serene and beautiful 2022 ballad “Tropical Night.” They made their official debut on February 21st, 2024, with their single album 좋아해 (A Fluttering Love).
COOING
Debuting in 2020, singer-songwriter COOING (쿠잉) released the self-titled Ep Cooing with the title track “넌 머물고 싶은 꿈 (Light Pink).” Many of her tracks have a relaxed, calm, summery feeling that has transcended across her discography from 2012’s “Summer Summer Summer” to 2023’s “That Summer Night.” Following the summer theme, she has released the pre-release single “27°C” from her upcoming album Summer Kiss, to be released on August 8th.
1CHU (원츄)
1CHU (원츄) is a duo unafraid to play with various genres. Initially debuting as a subunit of the girl group Heygirls before becoming an official group after Heygirls disbanded. Sulhee and Chaerin are the aesthetic dreams of any emo girl from the 2000s. With a punk sound, the girls return with their latest single, “Punk Hot,” which is every bit as punk rock as the listener could hope for.
N-DAY (엔데이)
N-DAY (엔데이), a three member girl group shortened their name from ‘The New Day,’ which means to share a new day together. Debuting in 2023 with the digital single “That’s Me.” They later released “Circus” in May, before making their newest comeback with the catchy trot single “One Two Three.”
LAYSHA (레이샤)
A girl group that needs no introduction is LAYSHA the four members who made their debut back in 2015 have returned with the racy single “Domino.” Released 30th July, the 3rd generation girl group have set hearts racing with their sexy concept and accompanying music video.
BE:MAX
Formerly known as MUSTB (머스트비), the five member boy group has rebranded themselves with the name BE:MAX (비맥스). Taegeon, Wooyeon, Doha, Soohyun, and Sihoo are back with new music. On July 30th, they re-debuted with their brand new single “Down Down.”
ARrC (아크)
ARrC (아크), a seven-member group, have officially made their pre-debut with the digital single “Dummy” released on July 26th. Their official debut is August 19th with the Ep “AR^C.”
WAKER
WAKER (웨이커) is a six-member group consisting of members: Kohyeon, Kwon Hyeop, Ijun, Leo, Saebyeol and Sebum. After releasing their pre-debut single “Dash,” they began official group activities in Japan in December 2023, with an official debut in January of 2024. Debuting with the mini-album Mission Of School and have recently released the incredibly bright and fun single “Vanilla Choco Shake” on July 16th.
NTX
NTX (엔티엑스), consists of nine members: Hyeongjin, Yunhyeok, Jaemin, Changhun, Hojun, Eunho, Jiseong, Seungwon, and Rawhyun. They made their debut on March 30th, 2021, with “Kiss The World.” In July, they released their second mini album, Hold X, with five tracks it features title track “Problematic.”
TRENDZ
The seven member group ofHankook, Havit, Leon, Yonwoo, Yechan, Eunil, Ra.l, have amassed quite the following since their debut in 2021. They have now made their Japanese debut with their mini album Rebirth. Following their latest EP Glow, the time came for their much anticipated Japanese Debut. The album, which was released 31st July, features five tracks that showcase perfectly why these boys are on the rise. They will also be touring the US on the Leo Presents Kpop Breakout Tour, before heading to their first fanmeet show in Türkiye on October 6th.
