During a new interview with Access Hollywood, Damon was asked if he agreed with the fact that many fans on social media frequently point out the similarity between the pair.
“Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.” Damon said, adding that the star was even cast as a younger version of his character in the 2000 film All The Pretty Horses. While Plemons’ scene was cut, Damon revealed that “the crew was freaking out” about the resemblance between the two.
“Five people came up to me before I met him and said, ‘You’re not gonna believe how much this kid looks like you,’” he revealed.
“I couldn’t believe it. He looked more like me than I did when I was little. Like my little 11-year-old face did not look like it [was going to become me]. He looked exactly like me. I was like, ‘This is really weird.’”
He went on to say that he was “proud of the comparison”. You can see the full interview with Damon here:
Back in June, Plemons himself spoke out about being frequently mistaken for Damon, admitting that he finds the comparison “flattering”.
On a June episode of the Today show alongside his Kinds of Kindness co-star Emma Stone, host Craig Melvin noted how people have drawn attention to Plemons’ perceived likeness to the Good Will Hunting actor for years.
“Still not Matt Damon,” joked Plemons in response. “Yeah, for a little while now [I’ve been compared to him], which there are worse things to be called, for sure. It’s definitely flattering. But yeah, throughout the course of my career, I’ve had various Matt Damon-associated nicknames and such.”
