UMe and uDiscoverMusic are continuing to give fans of the legendary Frank Zappa the chance to win exclusive items from The Vault, the near mythic storage facility that houses the late musician’s life’s work. More stickers abound with two Frank Zappa Freak Out! bubble stickers. It’s always good policy to Freak Out. As FZ wrote, “freaking out is a process whereby an individual casts off outmoded and restricting standards of thinking, dress, and social etiquette in order to express creatively his relationship to his immediate environment and the social structure as a whole.”
Next up are two Pink Guest Backstage Passes. Finally, your backstage pass for a Zappa show! These are real, unused backstage passes from Zappa’s 1984 “Them Or Us” Tour that have been housed in official Zappa storage for a nearly unbelievable 40 years. Crazy, but true! Next up are three reproduced orange tickets to Carnegie Hall. These tickets were printed in 2011 for inclusion in the long-awaited album release of Zappa’s October 11, 1971 Carnegie Hall performance. They’ve never been sold separately, and only one came in each album box.
The treasure of the giveaway arrives in the form of two test pressings, one for The Grand Wazoo and one for Waka/Jawaka. We must be off our wazoos just giving away test pressings. These are from the 2022 50th anniversary reissue suites of these sonically decadent albums. They are two of the very few created specifically to verify quality of the full vinyl manufacturing runs.
Lastly, the lucky winner will receive a Beat The Boots White T-Shirt. This true ‘80s vintage shirt is for Beat The Boots, the very Zappa series of releases that officially distributed bootleg concert albums.
