Slash has announced the death of his stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight. She was aged 25.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist took to social media channels this morning (July 22) to share the statement.
“Lucy-Bleu Knight (December 6, 1998), beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, stepsister of London and Cash Hudson, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA on July 19, 2024,” it read.
“Lucy-Bleu was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”
No further information about her passing has been shared publicly, and Knight’s family have requested that “social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss”.
The update was quickly met with an outpouring of condolences, with many fans and friends of the musician taking to the comment section to share their support for Slash and his relatives. “Words cannot express our deepest sympathy and condolences. Love you all so much,” wrote model and author Susan Holmes McKagan, who is also the spouse of Slash’s Guns N’ Roses bandmate Duff McKagan.
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea shared “Oh man, god bless”, while Violet Grohl – musician and daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl – wrote “My heart hurts for you guys. All the love to your family rn.”
According to LinkedIn and outlets including Metro, Knight worked as a day-to-day manager at Electric Lady Management and also appeared to be a tattoo artist, often sharing her work on social media.
She was the daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight. Hodges and Slash first got together in 1989, and then rekindled their relationship in 2015.
The death of Knight is likely what led to Slash announcing yesterday (July 21) that he would be cancelling various dates of his upcoming tour.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the S.E.R.P.E.N.T tour regrettably has to cancel the below performances. Refunds will be available at points of purchase,” a statement read. The dates included a show in Cincinnati tonight (July 22), and follow-up dates in Interlochen, Huber Heights and Windsor.
At time of writing, it looks as though the tour is expected to pick up again in Toronto on July 28.
