The new single expands upon ‘Satellite Business’, which served as an interlude on Sampha’s 2023 sophomore album. “‘Satellite Business’ was one of the last tracks to be recorded for ‘Lahai’ and I’d always imagined a guest verse to expand on it,” he said in a press statement, per The Line of Best Fit.

“Simz’s music has been close to my heart and ears for sometime now which makes her being on this song that more special. She’s one of my favourite artists. Her confidence and creative bravery are so refreshing, it’s amazing to see someone giving so much to their art”.

Meanwhile, Little Simz said that she is “so honoured to be a part of this record with Sampha”, calling him “truly is one of the most important voices in music today”. She added: “We have great musical chemistry and respect of each other’s process. Glad I got to stand alongside him on this.”

Sampha expanded on the genesis of ‘Satellite Business 2.0’ in an Instagram post, saying the original song “evolved from playing it live over the last year” and the audience reception had inspired him to follow it up with this new track.

Since the release of ‘LAHAI’, Sampha himself has been busy with collaborations on new releases by Headie One and Romy. In April, Simz joined Sampha on stage last April for a version of the song at his Alexandra Palace show in London.

Simz recently wowed audiences with a headline-worthy set at Glastonbury 2024. NME’s Jordan Bassett wrote: “Since she emerged a decade-and-a-half ago, Simz has established herself as one of the country’s greatest contemporary artists – and, fortunately, she seems to know it.”
