Hugh Grant is set to star in his first horror movie in over 30 years in the new A24 production Heretic – check out the creepy trailer below.
The actor may have made his name in charming romantic comedies in the 1990s and 2000s, but later this year he will be taking on an altogether more menacing role.
‘Heretic’ comes from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who created and wrote the original A Quiet Place film in 2018, and have since directed Haunt and 65.

Grant plays Mr. Reed in the film, a seemingly harmless man who answers the door to two young Mormon missionaries, played by Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets, The Boogeyman) and Chloe East (The Fabelmans, True Blood).
As the trailer shows, he invites the young women into his home on the pretence that his wife is in the kitchen. Before long, the women realise they are in serious danger.
The film is scheduled to be released to cinemas this autumn, although no date has been confirmed.
Grant last starred in a horror film in 1988 when he played Lord James D’Ampton in Ken Russell’s cult film The Lair Of The White Worm.
Hugh Grant has been making headlines this week after attending one of Taylor Swift’s three sold-out ‘Eras’ tour shows at Wembley.

Grant wasn’t the only celebrity in attendance at her massive Wembley shows this past weekend. Across three days, the singer hosted the likes of Paul McCartney, Tom Cruise, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Salma Hayek, Liam Hemsworth, Sophie Turner, Greta Gerwig, Jon Bon Jovi and more.
Back in February, Grant channelled his Wonka character Oompa Loompa at the BAFTAs as he presented the award for Best Director while singing the ‘Oompa Loompa’ song.
