Both the album and a music video for its title track of the same name were released on May 29 at 6pm KST, marking Yves first music release – be it solo or with a group – since she parted ways with former company Blockberry Creative.

In the new visual for ‘Loop’, featuring rapper Lil Cherry, Yves performs the choreography of the song with numerous back-up dancers. The song is notably a dance house track produced and written by Paix Per Mil founder Millic, alongside labelmate Ioah. Lil Cherry was also credited as a co-lyricist on the track.

Aside from its lead single, the ‘Loop’ mini-album consists of three other B-sides: ‘Diorama’, ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Goldfish’, all of which were both produced and written by labelmates Ioah, Millic and blah.

Although ‘Loop’ marks the singer’s official solo debut, it is her second solo record, after she put out her first solo material under her previous label as part of her introduction as a member of LOONA in 2017. This makes ‘Loop’ her first official solo work in over six years.

All 12 members of LOONA were able to terminate their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative in 2023, which started when bandmate Chuu was removed from the company after Blockberry Creative claimed that the K-pop idol had “abused” its staff.

Since the termination of their contracts, all 12 members have pursued various projects – Chuu became a soloist, while HeeJin, JinSoul, KimLip, HaSeul and Choerry formed the girl group ARTMS and remaining members Hyunjin, Hyeju (previously known by Olivia Hye), Vivi, Gowon and Yeojin re-debuted as ‘Loossemble’, all under different companies.

In other K-pop news, aespa dropped their first-ever studio album ‘Armageddon’ earlier this week on May 27. The record dropped alongside a music video for its title track of the same name, which was the second song from the album to receive a video treatment, following ‘Supernova’.
