Viewers Have A Big “F*cking” Problem With Netflix’s “3 Body Problem”

Netflix‘s 3 Body Problem is one of the platform’s most popular new series. While many viewers are enjoying the show, some are pointing out things that have spoiled the viewing experience for them.

3 Body Problem is based on The Three-Body Problem, a Chinese novel by Liu Cixin, and the first in a trilogy about Earth facing an alien civilization.

Some viewers have criticized certain cast members for their acting. In particular, actress Eiza Gonzáles‘ performance as Auggie Salazar has not been a fan-favorite.

Other viewers, however, aren’t loving the adaptation’s script, regardless of how well the cast delivers it.

Really amazing how bad—excruciating, even—the dialogue is in the new “3 Body Problem” Netflix show. It’s from a book full of smart, hard-sci-fi ideas and yet the writing is worse than the cheapest, crappiest soap opera. How does this end up happening?!

I couldn’t put my finger on what Netflix’s 3 Body Problem reminded me of, but the more I got in the pocket of its high budget and awful script, I figured it out.

They’ve The Da Vinci Code’d Liu Cixin.

The script’s biggest problem? Some viewers say the show has too much swearing, and it weakens the script. The difference between the book’s dialogue and the series’ dialogue is apparent to fans who have read the original work.

3 Body Problem is only ok. The script is eye rollingly melodramatic and cringy and there are awkward F bombs every other line. The story is a mashup of SciFi tropes and the chrome VR Helmet is laughable and is given endless closeups to showcase the VFX work on reflective surfaces

There’s a lot more casual swearing in the TV 3 Body Problem than I remember from the book and it makes the constant exposition feel even *more* undercooked? It continues to baffle me.

3 body problem is just full of vulgar language. The books have close to zero swearing. I despise millennial writers for this.

“WHAT THE ACTUAL H*LL is happening to the writing nowadays?” one Reddit user ranted. “WHY does people have to say fuck all the time? TELL ME.”

Not everyone has a problem with the show’s use of curse words, however. Some say the dialogue is “realistic” and that it makes sense in context.
