Is 2NE1 Coming Back? — Netizens Gather “Evidence”

On March 21, KST, a netizens’ post speculating that the iconic second-generation girl group 2NE1 is likely to return as a group soon went viral on Korean communities.

The OP (original poster) strung together a few hints supporting their claim. Firstly, they pointed out that CL, who is not very active about direct interaction with fans, has been posting messages more frequently on her Instagram channel. Recently, while talking to fans, she told them that she was planning to meet director Seo Hyung Seung.

Seo Hyung Seung has worked with 2NE1 extensively in the past as a music video director for their iconic songs, including “I Am The Best,” “Try To Follow Me,” “Scream,” and so on.

The second hint, pointed out by OP, was that all of the members except Park Bom had posted photos wearing black-framed glasses on their Instagram accounts recently. CL and Minzy also used black hearts in their captions. Since Park Bom is not active on social media anyway, the three of them pulling the same move has triggered the speculations.

Lastly, OP pointed out that the 2NE1 members have been meeting a lot these days, and in a recent interview, Sandara Park also asserted that she will be giving fans a “gift” soon. As for the speculated timeline, OP guessed that since May 17 will mark their 15th anniversary, it is highly possible that the four of them will release something together.

Most of the comments under the original post seemed to agree with OP’s analysis and expressed their excitement at the possibility.

| Instiz “Wow, what?” “It means it’s coming on the 15th anniversary!!!!” “How did you know about the meeting with director Sung Hyun Seung?
— “CL has now opened Insta fan chat. She said it there.” “Whoa! I thought I read it wrong. This is crazy.” “Oh my!” “Wow! What?”
