A question posed by a Threads user gained attention as fans of various idols shared their personal stories of how their favorites have rescued them.
Have you been saved by an idol?

One netizen shared a story about their battle with depression and how their idol got them out of the hole that they were stuck in.
“It was coincidentally my idol’s birthday when my depression was at its worst two years ago. I wrote her a letter on Instagram to thank her for the warmth she’s given me. I also mentioned that it’s been tiring for me, and I would only feel slightly better whenever I hear her music. I never thought she’d read it, so I wrote down almost all of my feelings.
Then, one day, when I was on my way to the doctor’s, I received a response from her. She earnestly read my entire letter and sincerely told me that giving warmth is mutual. She hoped that all the bad things I experienced could set off the beautiful things in my life and that we could work hard together for our happiness. I remember how hard I cried on the subway.
Because of her, I dared to face my illness and set my heart on getting treatment. She helped me at a time when I really wanted to give up. She really saved my life.”

Another user shared how they were saved by BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo when they had suicidal thoughts.
“I really have been. I was depressed for more than two years. No one knew, but I was a mess back then and had suicidal thoughts. She appeared in my life a few days before I planned to die by suicide. I began to understand joyfulness and happiness. I even came to realize how much you could love someone. My life started to turn around.
Recently, due to my social life, being isolated by my classmates, and a bunch of other issues, I became a mess just like before. But I’m able to live on because she’s by my side. I would not be in this world right now if not for her.”

SEVENTEEN‘s music also saved someone.
I have severe social anxiety and don’t really have friends at school. Additionally, my physical condition isn’t that great…but SEVENTEEN’s songs have given me a lot of healing. I learned that I was not alone and came to realize that music can really save a life.

As did (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi.
Yes. I used to like someone to the point that I couldn’t pull myself out. During that painful time, I came to know (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi. I slowly shifted my feelings to Yuqi so I wouldn’t be in so deep with that relationship. It’s not that I don’t still like that person, but the feelings are mild.

Other netizens shared short but equally significant tales.
Yes, many times. He’s not a person who promotes as an idol, but he’s like an idol to me.

So many times. I was able to change the habit of harming myself because of my idol.
