On February 29, Ohtani shared a post on Instagram in Japanese and English, announcing the news. The photo was a message in Japanese announcing his marriage to an unnamed Japanese woman and asking for support from fans.
He also requested that the media refrain from interviewing their relatives in “unauthorized” interviews.

Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married.
