While he started off talking about his album with pride and confidence, he soon became visibly emotional—mentioning that he put it together as a way to “say things that [he] couldn’t say out loud in words.”

Cha Eunwoo then explained that he chose The Seasons to promote his album because he didn’t want to schedule activities that could become “too commercial.”

Lee Hyori: I heard that you reached out to The Seasons first, to talk about your album.

Cha Eunwoo: I did. I didn’t want this album to be… all about sales or rankings. So, I told the management I didn’t want to schedule activities that could become too commercial or promotional.

Lee Hyori: Is there a particular reason for that?

Cha Eunwoo: I mean, it’d be great if more people listened to the album. Sure. But I didn’t feel like putting myself out there and actively promoting it, like, “Please listen to it!”

Lee Hyori: Why not?

It became evident that Cha Eunwoo worked on the album while coping with the loss of his teammate and friend, Moonbin, who passed away April 19, 2023. After admitting that “last year” had been one of the the toughest times of his life…

Cha Eunwoo: So last year has been… personally, one of the toughest times of my life. So, yeah. I… I don’t think I can finish talking about this.

Lee Hyori: It’s because the album includes all of the things that you cannot explain in words right now, right?

Cha Eunwoo: Right.

Lee Hyori: As an artist, to be delivering those words in your work, your album… I think that’s a good thing. You’re doing well.

Cha Eunwoo: Mm-hmm. It was not easy. I cried a lot. But I’m proud of what I was able to put together. And I hope that my messages get across as I intended.

…Cha Eunwoo had to drop the conversation, explaining his feelings are “something [he’ll] carry for a lifetime.” As the host—but more importantly, as a sunbae in the field, Lee Hyori remained supportive—helping him get through the conversation and eventually telling him that he’s doing well.

HR: Do you feel okay now after the album is out & you sing at fancon?

EW: I think it’s just something I’ll carry for a lifetime. It’s not easy to say “I’m ok” or “I’m better,” but I feel that if I keep doing what I can in my place, it’ll be better, so I just try to work harder. pic.twitter.com/qW10zjUKRF

In response to Cha Eunwoo’s most honest and vulnerable moment on the show, both the audience and the viewers sent the idol a flood of supportive words, too!

| @KBSKpop/YouTube “I know it must not have been easy, but thank you for being honest with us, Eunwoo. I understand how difficult it must be for you. I’m rooting for you, always!” “Supporting both ASTRO and Cha Eunwoo. I hope they can all stay strong. And that one day, they’ll find happiness again.” “I lost my mom when I was pregnant with my second child. I think it helps that life keeps us busy. It helps us move forward. On some days, we’re sad. But on some days, we’re OK. Let’s take our time to grieve, and soon, we’ll be through it. I wish the best for anyone who has ever lost a loved one.”
