Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Joe Cocker’s classic love song “You Are So Beautiful” has received a brand new lyric video. Directed by Jess Robert, the video uses a collage style to highlight all different forms of love; from couples to families to pets.
Arriving alongside the lyric video is a new playlist, also titled You Are So Beautiful, featuring seven of the late artist’s famous love songs. On top of the title track, it includes Cocker’s biggest hit “Up To Where We Belong,” his duet with Jennifer Warnes from the film An Officer And A Gentleman. Fans can also hear “You Came Along,” “She Is My Lady,” “A Song For You,” and more.
Originally released by American artist Billy Preston in 1974, Joe Cocker’s version of “You Are So Beautiful” came out later the same year. Cocker’s version, appearing on his album I Can Stand A Little Rain, was slowed down, giving the song a different energy from Preston’s original. It would become the English artist’s highest-charting solo hit in the United States, peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 1983, Cocker was joined by Ray Charles on the piano to perform the song on A Man and His Soul: a TV special celebrating Charles’ iconic career.
