The Deftones and Far side group will embark on the European leg of the ‘Familiar’ World tour in June. Currently touring North America, the upcoming live shows will see them make stops in cities such as Zagreb, Milan, Paris and London.

Crosses will also play at select festivals such as Nuremberg’s Rock im Park, Interlaken’s Greenfield Festival and Clisson’s Hellfest. The band are also set to support Avenged Sevenfold alongside Polyphia.

NME spoke to Crosses last year, and the duo – also consisting of Shaun Lopez – opened up about recruiting El-P for the album. “The reason we asked is because we wanted him – not trying to fit into a box but to feel creatively free,” said Chino Moreno, revealing his love for ‘Run The Jewels 4’.

“It’s off-brand for Crosses,” he continued. “Shaun and I both love the unexpected. The idea that someone would be listening to it and his voice just pops up without them knowing and they’re like, ‘What?!’ I love things like that.”

Lopez added: “We would never want to have somebody feature on the record just because they’re a big name – it’s about us doing something that’s not so obvious.”

Moreno opened up about the differences between the band and his main project Deftones. “Music has this great ability to be nostalgic on its own, and a lot of those influences we wear pretty openly,” Moreno said.

“I don’t think we try to fit into that box, or any box for that matter. Lyrically, even in Deftones, I’ve always offset the jagged heaviness with the more romantic. To me, that’s where I cut my teeth as a listener. In Crosses, it’s a little more fluid because the musical bed offers that space a lot more openly.”

In other news, a man played Deftones and System of a Down songs on the guitar whilst having brain surgery performed on him.
