Recently, many K-pop artists have become the subject of scrutiny over their use of vapes.

NCT’s Haechan Allegedly Caught Smoking Indoors

Unfortunately, it seems K-Pop idols are not immune to the popularity of harmful electric cigarettes. Vapes are known to cause lung, brain, and heart diseases.

Amid the heightened concerns over idols’ nicotine habits, one K-Pop idol seemingly volunteered the fact that he was also a fan of smoking vapes.

On January 22, private messages sent by ATEEZ’s Wooyoung went viral. In the photo, the idol writes that he is “Into vapes these days.”

Except he didn’t! The idol quickly writes that he meant to write Bape, the iconic Japanese clothing brand.

Although some might be skeptical about the idol’s mistake, the reason for the misunderstanding is much more innocent. The confusion stems from the fact that the Korean language does not have a separate letter for the consonants B and V. In other words, in Korean, Vape (베이프) is spelled the same way as Bape (베이프). It seems the idol’s message was translated incorrectly.

Thankfully, fans can rest assured that the idol is much more interested in looking fly for his fans than smoking.
