The Sad Reason Super Junior’s Kyuhyun Stayed In The Dorms For 18 Years

Super Junior’s Kyuhyun holds the record for the celebrity who lived the longest in company-provided dorms. He had been living in the dorms ever since his debut. He joined Super Junior in 2006 and only recently moved out of the dorms in late 2023.

He moved out as he shifted agencies to Antenna Music. On a recent episode of Jo Hyunah’s Thursday Nights, he confessed that he did not have a room at first. As he joined the group late, he did not have an assigned room or bed. He lived out of a luggage, setting up a mattress in different rooms each night. The pain behind not having a place to belong to helped him grow attached to the dorms, so much so that he never left.

Even when the other members began moving out of the dorms and into their own houses after they had a steady stream of income, Kyuhyun stayed at the company-provided dorms with member Eunhyuk. Now, four months into living on his own, Kyuhyun has realized the pros of living outside a dorm. He loves the freedom of living alone!

That being said, Kyuhyun reminisced about dorm live positively. When someone brought a friend over, they would drink together with the other members. He could also build closer relationships by living together with the members. Even so, he loves his newfound freedom and praised being able to do whatever he wants without worrying about affecting others.
