Israeli K-Pop Dance Cover Team Goes Viral For Completely Tonedeaf Video Amid Palestine Crisis

Since early October, media coverage of the Israel-Palestine crisis has increased, with more and more becoming aware of the conflict that is taking place in the Gaza Strip. According to Reuters, several thousands have been killed as bombings and other fighting occur in the region.

Those who proclaim themselves to be Zionist have faced criticism for alleging that they faced persecution while being able to leave the region for homes in other countries.

A K-Pop cover group recently went viral for having similar messaging in their dance cover video.

According to their Instagram page, Rewind Dance Crew are a crew based in Tel Aviv that celebrated their 3rd anniversary in July 2023.  On December 31, the dance team shared a cover of Ditto that has since gone viral on X.

The video begins with a message speaking about the current fighting taking place as the most “horrific attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

The next message relays that the team have felt comfortable enough to return to posting covers, and the following lists Israeli donation organizations.

K-Pop fans have since found the video and caused it to go viral, not for the content but for the dance team’s message.

The media’s coverage of what is taking place in Gaza picked up in October 2023, but this was not the start of the conflict in the region, which dates back centuries. Some Holocaust survivors and their familiest have also denounced Israel’s actions against Palestinians.

The dance team expressed fears for their safety, mentioning that they were filmed inside of bomb shelters (or before October 2023 in the case of the NewJeans cover), but when looking at the covers, they take place in different locations outside.

This has also been another point of anger for those in support of Palestinians — many Israelis have claimed to be in worse danger but shared content from places that appear unaffected.
