Dahye debuted in 2013 under the group BESTie.

The group saw success with the bubbly hit song “Love
Options,” but later disbanded due to their company YNB Entertainment facing financial difficulties.
Dahye later debuted as a soloist in 2020 with the single “Poison.”
In 2023, she shocked fans by appearing on the hit reality dating show, Transit Love (also known as EXchange). Fans were curious as to who her ex was, given that he would’ve dated a girl group member.
In the second episode, it was revealed that her ex-boyfriend was Dong Jin. What was even more shocking was their dating period. They had dated for around 13 years.
They had gotten together in 2010, 3 years before her official debut. They later broke up for a month in 2014 but got back together soon. They continued to date for 4 more years, breaking up for three months before dating for 5 more years.
The long dating period overlapped with her promotions as part of BESTie and a soloist. On the show, Dong Jin explained that they had both met as trainees. Their relationship was found out and the company met with them individually. The company said that only one of them could stay and asked them to make a decision. After they both willingly decided to leave the company for the sake of the other, they ended up both leaving. Dahye later made her debut in another company through BESTie, while Dong Jin never made his debut.
It was also rumored that they were both under SM Academy, an affiliated trainee system for SM Entertainment. They had been broken up for only a few months before they started filming the show.
