LE SSERAFIM‘s Yunjin was able to return to New York with her fellow group members for the first time in the fall of 2023, the state where she spent much of her childhood before moving to Korea to pursue her idol career.
While in New York City, Yunjin met with the American multimedia company Nylon for a fun interview about her group and solo activities.

Since her debut with LE SSERAFIM in May 2022, Yunjin has released four self-written and self-composed solo songs and has also lent her composition and lyrical talents to many of LE SSERAFIM’s releases.
In her interview with Nylon, Yunjin admitted that when Source Music approached her with the offer to join LE SSERAFIM, she was enticed when they expressed their desire to foster her songwriting talents while she promoted with the group.
…the company believed in [Yunjin’s] potential not only as an idol but as an artist who had something real to say.

Yunjin shared that she’s already working on her next solo song, which she began to write while on the plane to New York.
She explained that she had been feeling “little uninspired” lately, but after talking with HYBE founder Bang Si Hyuk, who suggested she draw inspiration from her current feelings versus her past, she’s been trying to “sit with her feelings” to use them for new songs.

One songwriting experience she’s been working on lately is writing raps. Yunjin explained that it was her “new challenge” and named the talented American singer-songwriter SZA as her inspiration. She revealed that she has been diligently studying SZA’s lyrical talent and cadence.
Whenever I listen to [SZA’s] music, I’m like, ‘How did she think of that?’
