Raptology: How did you come up with a stage name?
Darkface Squatta: I am my mother darkest son out of 5 boys.
Raptology: Where are you from?
Darkface Squatta: I am born in the quad cities Rock Island, Illinois, raised in Carbondale, IL.
Raptology: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Darkface Squatta: Deep music about life, situations, painful outcomes then my other side of artistry. My music is energetic. Catchy.
Raptology: Why did you first start making music?
Darkface Squatta: My older brother RIP Deno was the first person got me rapping when we were kids.
Raptology: Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Darkface Squatta: Jay Z, Kanye West, Future.
Raptology: Talk me through your creative process.
Darkface Squatta: I always been the type of artist after 10 seconds of listening to a beat and I like it. My head starts nodding and instantly I start humming a chorus…
Raptology: Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?
Darkface Squatta: Yes i was like 14. It went crazy in the street, “killa zone” by Lit dark produced by Deno The Wizard.
Raptology: Where and how do you work best?
Darkface Squatta: I work best at both times. Morning and night i get good recordings.
Raptology: Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Darkface Squatta: Yes, I am a victim of expressing my hurt on my records.
Raptology: What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?
Darkface Squatta: I want my legacy to represent growth in a artist when you gotta come home from prison and build from the ground up hit different states build business relationships. I represent that, aint no excuses, just do it, like Nike.
