With the growing popularity of the K-Pop music genre, more K-Pop songs are reaching impressive streaming milestones more quickly than ever before. However, the number of artists that get into the tens or hundreds of millions of streams in a short period is still relatively small, and in fact, the top 100 most-streamed K-Pop songs of 2023 on Spotify belong to just 12 different Korean entertainment labels.
HYBE Labels has the most top 100 songs, with 59 belonging to them. This includes songs by BTS and its individual members, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and TXT. Their five most-streamed songs are “Seven” by Jungkook, “Like Crazy” by Jimin, “OMG” and “Super Shy” by NewJeans, and “3D” by Jungkook.
JYP Entertainment has the second-most top 100 tracks belonging to them at 11 songs, released by artists Stray Kids, TWICE, NMIXX, ITZY, Jihyo, and TWICE’s MISAMO. Their top five most-streamed songs are “S-Class” by Stray Kids, “Moonlight Sunrise” and “Set Me Free” by TWICE, “Love Me Like This” by NMIXX, and “LALALALA” by Stray Kids.
SM Entertainment comes in third place, with nine of the top 100 most-streamed songs. This includes songs by EXO (and members Kai and Baekhyun), aespa, NCT DREAM, and NCT DOJAEJUNG. Out of these, their five most-streamed songs are “Rover” by Kai, “Spicy” and “Hold on Tight” by aespa, “Perfume” by NCT DOJAEJUNG, and “Better Things” by aespa.
YG Entertainment is the label with the fourth-most top 100 songs, with six belonging to them. All of these belong to BLACKPINK and members Jisoo and Jennie, and the most- to least-streamed of them are “Flower” by Jisoo, “One of the Girls” by Jennie, “All Eyes On Me” by Jisoo, “You & Me” by Jennie, “The Girls” by BLACKPINK, and “You & Me” (Coachella ver.) by Jennie.
Starship Entertainment is up next, with three of their songs — IVE‘s “I Am”, “Kitsch”, and “Baddie” — making it to the top 100 this year. The Black Label also had three songs reach this milestone: “Vibe” by Taeyang (ft. Jimin), “Shoong!” by Taeyang (ft. Lisa), and “Fast Forward” by Somi.
Cube Entertainment, ATTRAKT, and XGALX each had two of their songs make it into the top 100. They are “Queencard” and “Allergy” by (G)I-DLE (under Cube Entertainment), “Cupid” (Twin ver.) and “Cupid” by FIFTY FIFTY (under ATTRAKT), and “Shooting Star” and “Left Right” by XG (under XGALX).
Finally, KQ Entertainment, Metaverse Entertainment, and WM Entertainment wrap up the list, each with one song making it into the 100 top-streamed songs of 2023. They are, respectively, “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)” by ATEEZ, “Pandora” by MAVE:, and “Knock” by Lee Chaeyeon.
Do you think there will be more diversity in how many labels make it into the top 100 most-streamed songs on Spotify next year, or will it get even more monopolized?
