The soccer star’s wife and mother of the twins, Lee Soo Jin, shared in a since-deleted post on her Instagram that the twins’ shared TikTok account has been removed after failing the verification process.

According to the mom, TikTok would not accept the twins’ passport photos for verification—citing the platform’s age limitation as the reason.
TikTok may ban your account if we believe you’re under 13 years old (or under 14 in Indonesia, Quebec, and South Korea). If you believe we made a mistake, you may submit an appeal.

The twins’ mom claimed that TikTok has banned the twins for not being able to confirm that both are over the age of 14 (the age restriction for TikTok in South Korea)—because the twins “do not look like their passport photos” and so cannot be verified.

The twins have had no problem using their passports at airports… But TikTok won’t let us pass the verification step. We tried over ten times. How do these pictures make them look 14? We’ve sent multiple pictures to get the accounts verified. Yet, TikTok keeps giving us the same answer over and over again, claiming that the twins don’t look like their passport photos. This is what happens when South Korea becomes too good at taking great pictures.

TikTok’s current appeal process for banned users does involve using government-issued ID.

The mom complained that she “can’t contact TikTok” even though she would like to appeal the decision and get “their memories back.”
I can’t call them. I don’t know how to get in touch with them. Should I go to TikTok’s headquarters and protest there? I’d like the twins to get their memories back…

The post has since been deleted from the mom’s Instagram feed. And the twins’ TikTok account @jaesijaeah remains accessible, though the last update comes from August 2023.

The twins were born in 2007, making them 17. As do most teens, the twins have been active on all social media platforms—with Instagram being one of their more popular channels for sharing updates and interacting with their fans.
