GOT7’s BamBam Admits He Felt “Embarrassed” At Being Paired Up With Lovelyz’s Sujeong In 2014 Collaboration

BamHouse, the YouTube interview program hosted by GOT7‘s BamBam, just released its last episode of the season. Red Velvet‘s Wendy and Seulgi were the guests, two idols who, like BamBam, debuted in 2014.

They reminisced on their rookie days, especially their first year-end collaboration stage. Lovelyz, GOT7, Winner, and Red Velvet all gathered together at SBS Gayo Daejun to perform “Moves Like Jagger.”

It was at this point when BamBam revealed that he considered it his “most embarrassing” stage yet.

That performance…for me, that was the most embarrassing.

In his decade of experience in the industry, it was the pair dance with Lovelyz‘s Sujeong in particular that made him feel most self-conscious.

It was not Sujeong herself that caused this embarrassment but BamBam’s insecurity about his height. He was ashamed at being the only male idol in the lineup who was shorter than his partner.

At the time, I was partnered with Sujeong from Lovelyz. She was a little taller than me. So I was super embarrassed. Everyone else’s height differences were good. [I wondered] ‘Why did they pair me with a tall person?’

The cameras at the time did not zoom into BamBam and Sujeong, but it was clear that the former’s words about the common height difference between the guys and girls was true.

He commented that he was “so short back then” and thus felt embarrassed. BamBam was only 17 years old when he debuted in 2014. As Sujeong was around 168 cm (5’5”) tall, the GOT7 member was shorter than his then-reported height of 170 cm (5’6”).

Nowadays, BamBam is around 178 cm (5’8”) tall. He claimed that drinking alcohol is what spurred his rapid growth.

I grew after I started drinking. I learned how to drink after 20 years old.
