The Game Awards 2023: see the full list of winners

2023 has been an excellent year for gaming with an assortment of strong titles dropping this year. Today (December 7), the gaming community comes together to celebrate the best gaming experiences that 2023 had to offer, courtesy of The Game Awards – see the updated list of winners below.

This year’s nominations are led by Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3, both of which have nabbed eight nods, including Game of The Year. Also nominated for Game of The Year are Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Those aforementioned titles are also nominated for Best Game Direction. This year’s nominees for Best Adaptation – in which video games are adapted into TV series and films – are Castlevania: Nocturne, Gran Turismo, The Last Of Us, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Twisted Metal.

So far, a handful of awards have been handed out, with the award for Best Family Game going to Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Meanwhile, Forza Motorsport won the award for Innovation in Accessibility. Neil Newbon also won Best Performance for his astonishing performance in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Big announcements so far include a remake of Josef Farez’s Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, set to arrive in February.

The stars have also come out to attend the biggest night in gaming, with Timothée Chalamet set to present an award, as will Anthony Mackie, ZEDD and more. Matthew McConaughey also revealed a new game, Exodus, which he will also voice a character for – it was also soundtracked by Muse‘s ‘Supermassive Black Hole’.

Sony Santa Monica also made a massive announcement, confirming that a free God Of War Ragnarok DLC titled Valhalla will arrive on PlayStation starting December 12, 2023.
