On November 27, the group released their long-awaited music video for their debut single, “Batter Up.”

Despite a lukewarm reception in Korea, the song shot to first place on iTunes in 21 countries and placed top 5 on the World Wide Chart.
The music video also racked up 22.6 Million views in 24 hours, breaking the record for K-Pop debuts and overtaking BLACKPINK‘s debut record.

Whether or not BABYMONSTER will be able to dominate like BLACKPINK is still left to be seen, but previous Korean netizens’ concerns about the group’s star quality may have been premature.
