The single ‘Chill Kill’ is a dance pop track that uniquely unfolds around bold bass movements, string melodies, and dreamy synth and bell sounds. On top of unconventional harmonies, the lyrics tell a story of a relationship turned upside down, characterized by the dual nature of singing for hope while yearning for a loved one in the midst of a relationship that has become filled with imperfections.
Elsewhere, the 10-track album brings together a variety of music and messages, encapsulating Red Velvet’s distinctive identity and essence. The group shows off their signature playful and theatrical melodies on tracks like ‘Knock Knock (Who’s There?)’, ‘Nightmare’, ‘One Kiss’, and ‘Bulldozer’, while showcasing dreamy, softer sounds on ‘Underwater’, ‘Will I Ever See You Again?’, ‘Iced Coffee’, and ‘Wings’. The album closer, ‘Scenery’, is an acoustic ballad comparing cherished memories to paintings of the four seasons. The new album arrives almost a year after the release of their last album, “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday”.
