Jessi released “ZOOM” in April 2022, and the singer admitted she “barely did any promotions” after initially releasing the song.

Before Jessi knew it, the social media-themed song went viral on TikTok, with netizens, fans, and fellow idols all dancing along to the catchy track.

When Zach Sang asked her about the song, Jessi revealed that she had only released it at the time because no one else at her former company, P NATION, was dropping anything.

‘ZOOM’ was actually a song that was not supposed to really do this well, in a sense, because I was actually- I dropped the song because nobody in P NATION was dropping a song at the time.

Jessi revealed that, for her, it’s very easy to make songs, and once she heard the beat for “ZOOM” in the studio, she knew she could work with it.

Her company at the time suddenly asked her to drop the song, and she did. She couldn’t help but be amazed at its success, noting that she’s noticed that the effort she puts into a song doesn’t always equate to its success.

It’s like the sh*t that you work on for so long, those are the songs that, like, don’t really do as well. But the ones that you’re just like, ‘ah, whatever, I’m just going to drop it,’ those are the ones that always do well! I’m just like, ‘what the f*ck bro!’

Although it was unexpected, Jessi embraced the song’s success and admitted that her new song “Gum” shares some similarities with her 2022 hit.

While Jessi is currently releasing fun pop songs, she revealed in an interview with her new CEO, Jay Park, that she has a different vision in mind for future releases.
