Erik Jensen, an actor who starred in the fifth season of The Walking Dead, has been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
The actor’s diagnosis was shared in a GoFundMe post by his family, who are hoping to raise $300,000 to “make it through the next year, pay for treatment to fight his cancer, keep their home, and maintain some sort of stability” for his wife Jessica and 13-year-old daughter Sadie.
“After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year and a half ago, our beloved Erik Jensen was just diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer,” the page reads.
“The cancer has metastasized to his liver, but Erik is young and strong (cutting a film during chemo, working full-time as a director and writer throughout) and his doctors think they have a shot at shrinking the tumors enough to do two very major surgeries and get them all out,” they added. “He can make it through this. But Erik and his family are in for the fight of their lives, and they need your support.”
Jensen played Dr. Steven Edwards in The Walking Dead. His other TV credits include roles in Mr. Robot, Mindhunter and Law & Order.
Never had the chance to work with Erik… until now anyway. Only have heard many things about what a great guy he is. I do know he and his could use some help…. Of any and all kind. xojd https://t.co/qFmI9J111k

The Walking Dead’s chief content officer, Scott Gimple, shared a link to the fundraiser on X, writing: “One of TWD’s own could use a little help. Erik Jensen, who played Dr. Steven Edwards in S5 was just diagnosed with cancer, and it’s a time of great uncertainty for him and his family. If you want to send something his way.”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan in the franchise, also shared the post, writing: “Never had the chance to work with Erik… until now anyway. Only have heard many things about what a great guy he is. I do know he and his could use some help… Of any and all kind.”
The Walking Dead came to an end after eleven seasons last year. The franchise has continued through sequel spin-offs, including Dead City with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) and a series following Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in France.
